Allow myself to introduce...myself

Hey found this site while researching Elk M1 products for installs both in my house and retail business. At home I'm replacing a proprietary Ademco Vista 15 or 20, forgot which and for the business it is a new install.

About 20 years ago I worked for an alarm company in an inner-city area for 3 years. Installed 100's of Napco and Ademco panels in lots of odd places like crack houses, churches, bars, BBQ/catfish joints and normal houses behind burglar bars. I've moved a number of times since those days but still find a few white b-clips in the bottoms of drawers and boxes from time to time.

I'm happy to see some stuff hasn't changed much, but even happier to see the new innovations and use of technology. My background was in electrical engineering, but that was ages ago, I'm mostly a software geek now.

I'm going with Elk M1 Gold for each install, mostly hard wired, but a couple wireless connections on doors I can't get to. I've chosen the following hardware to go along with the Elk:

Bosch DS835i TriTech PIR
IntelliSense CK-FG730 Glassbreak Detector

I'm looking at the Caddx NX-702 - Quik Bridge non-supervised 2-channel receiver for a quick and cheap way of adding wireless for the two doors I can't wire. I haven't found anyone using this receiver with the M1, so if anyone has any info on that unit that would be helpful.

I'll be using either Caddx NX-651 - Standard crystal door/window sensors
or Caddx NX-453 - Slim line door/window sensors

Thanks,
-Ken

Welcome, smoov! Your engineering background and field experience will be great assets to Cocoontech.

Austin Powers always = funny. Welcome to the forum.

I have the Bosch detectors installed and they work well as long as the cats stay on the lower furniture. I also have used a ton of the FG730 BG detectors and they work well also. Just make sure you adjust the low frequency setting out of the box. They almost never need to be turned all the way up.

smoov,
If you have Ademco wireless transmitters in your current installation, there is a good chance you can reuse them with the M1 in the future. ;)
