Has anyone interfaced an Amazon Echo with any of the  single board computers such as the Raspberry Pi or Arduino?

If so, can you provide some detail on how you did this interface and how are you using it in relation to home automation?  Are you simply turning lights off/on or are you using it for more advanced tasks?  For instance. are you querying Alexa to provide energy usage stats in your home?

As a side note, I was initially considering using a kinect from an old Xbox 360 but I quickly learned that it was low on the WAF approval scale.  She really didn't like something that looked like a "model airplane" sitting on her dining room buffet. So, from a WAF viewpoint, Amazon Echo is the way for me to go.  Unfortunately, they're out of stock until sometime in January.
