Hey,

I was wondering if anyone has used the the Schlage electronic keypad locks? If so, are they really worth the price?

Thanks,

Rich

I've had the same one installed for over a year and it's worked flawlessly... highly recommended (Schlage Electronic Keypad Deadbolt).

+1 on that Schlage. You can read about my experience here. 3rd paragraph mentions this lock. We have not used the patio that much, just starting to now, but it has worked flawlessly. I see no reason why it would not work on any door where you would use a deadbolt - except possible aesthetics in the house.

We have the kwickset biometric lock.

I like the look better then these keypads as it looks like a regular deadbolt. It has a hidden biometric reader. It is the strip kind of reader that you rub your finger against.

I like it, I can open it fine but my wife has a hard time using it. Watching her try to open the lock I realize she doesnt put her finger in the same spot every time. Sometimes she has her finger twisted, sometimes she starts right under the last knuckel sometimes she starts in the middle of that fingerprint. Sometimes she pushes hard, sometimes she just flicks it. Becaues the lock is not a flat reader but a stip reader, like the ones that are on most laptops, you really need to rub your finger on it exactly the same way for it to work....

This isnt the lock you guys are talking about but I figured I would mention it because it is more attractive however it chould be hard to operate, especially for younger children..

The thread I pointed to in my post talked about that lock specifically. Its the one many of us had problems with. Agreed it does look nicer on the outside, but function in this case is far more important than form.
