Are these components everything I need to get started:

I am thinking about a z-wave system in to control a few lights. Here is what I am planning on buying. Is it enough or am I missing an important part:
4 X Switches (either GE or Wayne Dalton)
1 x GE 45602 Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control Lamp Module
1 x Trane TZEMT400BB3 Thermostat
1 X HM-DW001 Door and Window Sensor

Either:
1 X Z-Stick
1 X HomeSeer
Or:
1 X Vera 2

Is that enough, or would I need anything more to get started?

I am also thinking about getting a remote (GE 45601) to allow me to toggle it from a different room. How nice does it play with the vera 2/homseer configurations? Do I have to reprogram all the scenes all over again? Or can it run vera/homseer's scenes?

Also, I have not been able to find switches that are as nice (with the led light on the side) as the ISNTEON ones.
While this is not important, if possible I would like to get "fancy" switches. Might as well let everyone who is in my house that there is something special going on.
Any suggestions for a nice z-wave switch?

Thanks

Ghurty,

You list looks like a good start!

The only thing I would suggest is that you look into some of the Intermatic Z-Wave switches and thermostat. The Intermatic switches are not Gen I Z-Wave, and will communicate the status back to your controller, either HomeSeer or Vera, after it has changed statuses. I believe the GE switches are Gen I and do not send a confirmation that they executed your command back to the controller. Also you can save a bit of money on the thermostat by going with Intermatic.

I'm not sure about the GE 45601 but if it is anything like the Aeon Labs Minimote it will enroll as a scene controller. All you need to do after enrolling the remote is associate the buttons with scenes (either new or preexisting scenes).

HTH!
