If you live in New Orleans, and purchase your electricity via Entergy New Orleans, Inc., then you might be one of the 5,000 lucky home owners who get to play with the Home Area Network (HAN) device, designed to monitor and interact with your utilities. The program is called SmartView Energy Management and is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department Of Energy and Entergy New Orleans.
All 7,000 participants receive a smart meter installed at no charge. 4,400 homes will receive HAI's In-Home Energy Display (81A00-WHSH) and 400 homes will receive HAI's Omnistat2 programmable communicating thermostats (RC-2000WHSH).
