Energy monitoring is becoming a hot topic, and while there are already several propriatary solutions out there, some of them are now starting to use ZigBee and Z-Wave based technology. GreenWave Reality is one of those companies who recently announced their platform which monitors all your energy needs via Z-Wave based powerstrips and other modules. The gateway also supports control of of Z-Wave based modules, so it is also a basic automation gateway. Their press release (attached below) doesn't contain much info, but it's a pretty interesting product.
