In case you aren't aware, SlySoft recently announced that it is going to do away with the lifetime upgrades option when purchasing their software. AnyDVD/AnyDVD HD is one of the best software packages out there which can decrypt DVD's and Blu-Ray discs. Since many of us like to move their discs onto a NAS, you should probably consider getting this lifetime update if you don't have it already.

Didn't the do away with Lifetime updates a while ago? Did they bring them back at some point? It seems to me that they have had this marketing angle before! I have lifetime updates and I'm not suggesting that people don't try to get this deal while they can, but I'm also a little suspicious because I swear they have done this before.

they did say this either last year or the year before... exact same thing, in January no more lifetime updates - so I bought it then as well (it was while building my sage server). Don't get me wrong - I don't regret it one bit - lifetime updates are hard to come by.

I do remember them doing away with this once before, not sure what happened, but if you plan on storing your Blu-Ray discs on a hard drive, and/or play them via SageTV, you really need this software. At least you also get a 20% discount on top (which does seem to be a semi-permanent discount).

I lucked into the lifetime support for DVDFab. Is this software really better for bluray ripping?. Other than MyMovies integration I haven't heard any other pluses for me to drop another $100+.

SlySoft was the first one to support BR/HD-DVD, plus they offer a driver which allows strips the disc real time (at least for DVD). Not too familiar with the commercial versions of DVDFab, it might work just as well.

Only time it connects to its website is to check for updates, which can be disabled. There is a fully functioning trial if you want to take a look at it. I don't get paid by them, just wanted to share the news in case you were considering buying the software.
