Better way to temporarily install EOL resistors

I agree that if I use the GRI's with internal EOLR's, it wil mostly be for convenience. However, for a DIY'er (like myself), there's probably a bigger chance (compared to the short-to-EG-between-the-EOLR-and-contact scenario) that if I decided to retrofit an external EOLR, I would end up screwing something up... accidentally cutting/breaking a wire "in the hole", wiring it incorrectly, etc.

Yeah here DIY'd the EOL thing very slowly; baby steps making each one a project in itself; a bit time consuming; while concurrently looking at the loop values on the laptop to make sure that they were correct.  Initially too I just left enough slack in the 22/2 cable to do it while not on a ladder; too much slack though for me.  I did go slower on the post alarm pre wire thing cuz of the sprayed insulation and very tight wiring stuff.  IE: breaking or accidentally cutting a cable could be a major PITA.  In Florida I did break one door 22/2 wire; well shortened it to a point of no return.  I ended up removing part of the door frame and did have to reinstall and paint a bit.  That was a bit more time but not difficult to do.
 
======WAF Tangent=========
Today's WAF thing (well and post Valentine's day) is to carve a path on the deck to the grill on the other side opposite the door to the house.  That said there were some 1-2 foot drifts.  Twice now and looks OK enough to use the outdoor grill tonight (even though it'll be around zero or so).  Started the natural gas grill; started right up.  Might generate enough heat to dry the deck some.

It was a PITA (using this phrase now twice)  to be doing this while on a ladder; soldering, heat shrinking the tubing et al.  I used one of those little mini torches; didn't burn down the house and mess with the walls (such that it was high on the WAF - she saw the torch and me using it; freaking out a bit).  Previously had tried with a regular soldering iron and accidentally dropping it on a new rug really was bad WAF.  Then again while helping a friend who is a dentist (friends are different but similiar WAF things) with her automation "stuff" and using a 5 foot drill bit (a "bit" too long maybe) accidentally drilling from her bedroom to her living room did cause a bit of grief; but an easy fix.  My very first LV for security wiring here I drilled from the basement into the new kitchen wood floor; it was very low on the WAF and due to some miscalculations.  You don't even see it today.
 
That said though with each one I got faster at it and by the time I was done it was where I could do more than one in the span of time it took to do just one.
