Finally! Tomorrow is the big day.
I have got my Exchange 2010 Server installed on a Virtual server 2008 R2 server and it is tested and ready to go. Tomorrow is the big day that I get to change my MX records, Migrate the mailboxes, then turn off and decommission the old (and I mean OLD!) Exchange 2003 Box. It used to reside at my house, but when we went to move last December, I took it over to my parents place until I had internet installed at my house.
Well, I got the internet, but then decided that if I was physically switching computers that Exchange was going on, I may as well install the latest version. Long story short, It ended up taking almost a year. My parents will be happy that computer will be gone, and I am excited to get HTML emails using "Push" Technology on my Android phone. (Exchange 2003 doesnt do HTML by Push)
Most of my time lately has been spent on landscaping and helping the In-Laws with the harvest, so not much more has happened on the HA front. Now that those projects are wrapping up and the Exchange server will be migrated, its time to jump back into it. I think next on my list will be installing the new circut breakers in the Panel to give the sump pump its own circut again, then installing the speekers in the ceiling in each room so I can hook up the Nuvo.
This Exchange server is a huge milestone for me. Before we moved, we were running a Laptop, 2 Workstations, and 3 Servers. Once this migration is complete I will have reduced that to 1 Laptop, 1 Desktop, and 1 Server.
