Brultech ECM 1240 questions

Hello,

I am testing a 1240 to see if our company likes it. Currently I have only "successfully" operated it with a RS 232 direct connection.

I have separated the wires to a surge protector that our air conditioner is pluged into and have the 200A CTs hooked to it. Currently I am reading the proper voltage but about double the power and amps. I am unsure as to whether I should be wiring these as a DUAL ct on one channel or single on channels one and 2. Also does it matter which wire I use for com and which goes into single/dual slots if I am consistent with both CTs? For each one wire is black and the other is black with white squares.

The second problem that I have spent the most time on is that I cannot make the wireless Dongle work. Model U2Z. I installed the thing labeled USB driver from the website and it seems to recognize it and the COM port does appear. No Data comes through and the wavy arrows on the dongle that I think maen data transfer do not light. I havent been able to find any support for the dongle.

So I would appreciate any help and would be happy to even talk on the phone - I am not supposed to spend a lot of time on this project!

Thanks,

Alex

Not sure about the wireless dongle, but in answer to your question the two main CTs should be wired as Dual (wired in series and make sure the "arrows" point in opposite directions), and attach the ends to "com" and "Dual" of Ch1 or 2. I do recall that there may be a "search" function that needs to be initiated to find the dongle. One of the other users should be able to help you there. If I told you wrong, I'll be corrected forthwith and highly embarrassed :)

If your air conditioner is only 120V, then you should only use one CT on it (i.e. the HOT leg only, not the HOT and NEUTRAL).
