Ceiling Fan control question...

I have 4 ceiling fans that I need to add lighting controls for.

Right now they are simply on/off switches, with fan/lighting controlled at the fan.

If I wanted to switch these to a HA controlled elements, what is the first step I need to take?

I'm assuming since they are single switch controlled, do I need to buy Different Fans if I want to be able to conrol the Fan and Light separately (And in conjunction, run an extra set of power lines to the switch?)

My current thoughts are to go with the OmniProII and a UPB based lighting system.

Are there currently any UPB based Modules I can use to control Lighting/Fan control on separate switches (Or dimmers)?

The first step is to open up the box and see if you have 3 wires+ground going to your fan. If so you can just install a UPB dual load switch, or replace the box with a dual gang and install 2 switches. If you only have two wires, you will probably need to pull a new one.

There are inline modules also but doubtful two would fit in your fans electrical box.

Thank you, I will look as soon as I get a chance.

Looking through past threads, I found that there are no true UPB Dimmers, only on/off, which I guess will be good enough.

Unless any new ones have been developed since that thread in '08.. lol
