Just a picture of my parrot Kika on the back page of the monthly BMW Car Club newsletter.

This is a first as I have only seen dogs pictured on the back page of the newsletter.

Thank you.

Yup she is older than me born in 1827 ;)  She is in her mid life crisis right now.

Nah...she was born in 1970's and is almost 40 now. Kika and the wife do not get along; never have.

Kika has been around longer than wife and yes she is jealous.

Baby Kika lived in my back yard / garden on a perch.  Never flew away.

Neighbor had a scarlet macaw that also lived in his back yard at the time.  The older scarlet macaw was actually younger than his wife (use your imagination here).

The macaw was trained to fly over to you and take a peanut out of your fingers at the time or snap your finger off.

Kika though would just nip at an earlob if she would fly over to you.

First wife hated her so much that she moved Kika to a spare bedroom with windows but would keep the door shut all of the time.  (1980's).

Many years ago met a hawkmeister that had side trained a crow/raven.  The crow was just a tiny bit smaller than the hawk and could really do much more than the hawk.

Thank you Mike.

Yeah over the years Kika has always cooed my children and whomever she has liked and basically has cussed to anybody she has not liked.  Interesting too that she knows within just a few minutes of meeting foe or friend.

Current wife (as past wives have too) calls Kika a bitch and just accepts her being around.  Kika will lunge at her when she goes near the cage and much of the time will nip her if she puts her hand in the cage.

Yesterday we (Kika and I) went to visit a veterinarian.  Within 5 minutes the veterinarian had her cooing while she scratched her head.  Previously tried another veterinarian and Kika would attack her across the examining room in less than 5 minutes.  I only used her twice.  Really though old veterinarian appeared not to like her job anyways.

My cockatiel will attack me when  females of child-bearing age, are in the room. if I try to put him back in his cage. This doesn't happen with children or older post-menopausal women.

Other times he will sit on my shoulder or knee, or we play games, for hours without problems.

Lets talk strange pet behaviors. Dogs seem to me to have some thought process. They respond to external stimulus and they have repeated behaviors which make me think that they actually think before they act.But then if you compare them to people you would have to say that they are insane.

For instance - my dog gets all excited and barks at me endlessly whenever I put on or take off my shoes or socks. I like to think that she is trying to tell me to take her out for a walk but then again maybe she's just a pinhead?

We love her anyways.

Mike.
