Center Channel Speak placement issue

So I am finally updating my HT room. I purchased a new LCD TV (55 inch) to replace my 250-300lb Sony 36 tube which sits in an Armoire style cabinet. The wife wants me to place the new TV stand\cabinet. She does not want it mounted on the wall. The first problem that I have is where do you put the CC. I have a Paradigm Studio CC which is large and not flat (unable to put TV on top of it). It will not fit in the cabinet.

So does anybody have a suggestion on placement or a bracket that mounts the TV to the cabinet so that I can raise it up a little to put the space under the TV without blocking view.

The second problem, is that the wife wants me to replace my floor standing front speakers (paradigm Studio 100's) with inwall ones. My setup are all paradigm. Does anyone have suggestion on inwall L\R speakers? If I am replacing L\R, I could replace the CC as well.

So any suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Mike

Gatchel:

Thanks for the response. Here is a picture of the stand. This is not my setup as the TV and the stand have not arrived yet. This will give you an idea of how it will look. As for the CC speaker, it is a Paradigm CC-350. I have attached the picture (stock photo) The size is 7.5Hx22.75Wx9.75D

Mine is similar with glass doors but no middle legs. I rebuilt the bottom of it with some large recessed casters such that I could roll it or move it on the carpeting. I kept trying different MFGs center speakers and settled on the Bose. It sits underneath and in the middle of the cabinet. It works well. Initially though of leaving it in front of the LCD but it obstructed the view some.

Sounds like you've already purchased a cabinet - but if it's not too late to cancel, there are many cabinets out there that have an arm that sticks up to mount the TV on - they lift the TV up a bit... that would be a nice solution.

But seems weird that she wants in-wall speakers but a stand for the TV... any way to out-vote her?

Play:

Yes, the cabinetstand has been ordered. I saw a Avalon(sp) mount that was free standing. The feet of the stand went under the cabinet. The problem with that was the cost, +800 dollars.

As for out voting her, yes that is possible but I would lose other privilages that I am not willing to give up unless I purchased the Girlfriend 1.0 application. ( I have heard that applicaiton does not work out well in the long term)

Thx

Mike

A friend of mine did the LCD wall mount with 7.1 all in wall stuff. The MM server et al sat in a nice old antique wooden storage unit table. Totally never seen and he used the Logitech touch panel/remote device to totally manage all his stuff.

The wooden cabinet that I purchased costs something like $400; it was very heavy to work with and I did do some major mods to it to make it more MM friendly like. It didn't make sense to my wife (but I didn't ask her for her comments relating to the endeavor); but I literally ripped the guts out of the cabinet and redid the whole inside of it along with the entire base of it. (shelving, etc). That whole endeavor was a few weekends of work (maybe a month or so before I actually used the cabinet for the TV).

The MM room was large. I personally like the minimal footprint look; but then you might as well hide the LCD too if you are going towards that direction.

I think I have found a solution to one of my problesm (CC placement). I have found the tv stand that is free standing and will sit under the cabinet. I have attached a picture. Here is the link:

I have attached a picture of it in use. (not my setup)

Thanks for all the help

Mike

Looks nice Mike. I'm still "playing" with my set up (the casters) and the cabinet was to heavy to be moving it while I played with the wiring.

I did install a power strip and UPS behind and active but quiet ventilation inside of the cabinet.

I was thinking the same. Mount the TV on the wall and set the CC on top of the cabinet.

You also could rip apart the drawer section and make a custom perferated opening covered with grill cloth and possibly hide the cc behind there the drawers used to be. That's if you don't mind modifying a brand new piece of furniture, though...
