Cheap Big Red Emergency Button (KR15A) receiver?

In the room that I work, we have 2 doors that people use to gain access. However, since the door is locked, they have to knock to be let in.

Being that both doors are made from metal, we do not always know which door to go open (due to echo).

We want to know which door to open.

We want to have a light come on when a button is pressed, not a door bell, so we do not disturb people working.

I was thinking is there a way to receive a KR15A on something cheap, which can just turn ON an X10 light?

I was looking at the X10 Security receivers...I didn't really see one that will do what I want.

I'm also up for a different solution as well.

The only restriction is that it should be like a doorbell button to turn ON the light, not a light switch (I know I know, I saw the one at China (Harbor) Freight as well...but the RF light switch thing ... it's like a light switch).

Thanks!

As I recall these buttons transmit a regular X-10 house/unit codes in addition to a security receiver code so you can just use them with an X-10 wireless receiver and a lamp module.

I use them to reset certain timers, etc. I have a W800RF hooked up to my Elk M1, and trigger rules that way.

Sounds like some top secret basement bunker! Code cracking or nuclear arms development? ;)

Push the Big Red Button and it sends an X10 RF On signal to the House/Unit Code it is set to.

Also made to interface with the smaller SH10A Siren. If the red Button is held longer it sends a string of Dim commands to the address set to; that the small siren will start dinging if the address is the same. Hold it longer and it then sends the On Off sequence to trigger the siren.

From what the users sheet says it will also install to a Security Console if you have one.

I have a wgl design 572A in the F/S section... that should receive that.....
it is really cheap (in price) and all you need is a psc05 and a lamp module... to go with it.....

here is the page on it...

I am not sure what that unit transmits... meaning.. when pressed say L1 On... if so then a lamp module would turn the light on....

I also read somewhere that this unit you do not need a computer on to make the unit to work... only to disable some house codes that you do not want it to receive......

I was going to use those buttons in my house for my son who cant reach the light switches to use.... wife is saying that that is just an excuse for me to put automated switches in the bathrooms..... well she is right... so hopefully this weekend.. get the switches in... then order me up some of those switches...

also if you need a link .... got to dig it up.... think it is 5 of them for $20....
lemme know

I have to modify my findings. I just tested one and used the default A1.
Push Button. A1 AOn

Hold Button A1; AOn; A Bright; A Bright; A Bright.

If held longer changes to A1 AOn; AOn; A1 AOn.

The SH10A will ding with bright commands and starts screeching with a stream of A1 AOn commands.
