So, WAF in my house has nothing to do with security - she's scared to death of alarm systems for whatever reason... but things that help protect the family win big points. The first thing we turned on was the door chime on all door and window zones (also better than a walk test - we're always conscious)...
Since installation, I've noticed that the chimes aren't as quick and simple as some of the ADT and other crappy alarms - but it gets the job done. But, since installing it, my wife has been complaining that the systems in everyone else's houses seem to chime when the door is closed - and ours doesn't seem to.
For us, this is a big feature - did the kids leave the door open (future, daughter isn't old enough yet - but, there's the nephew) - did the repair man close the door, etc. We have indoor-only declawed cats - so we're over-conscious about this. The close tone is huge. I'm working on the Elk124 so I have different tones for each door, etc - but I don't see anything built-in to do a close tone that sounds half-way decent without having to do a whole bunch of rules. Am I missing anything? Seems like a simple buzz would be so easy...
