Compact exterior motion sensors

I'm trying to find a compact motion detector to trigger exterior lighting. Old house I used a RAB Smart box which liked a lot. Problem it runs on line voltage, and this time I want to mount the sensor about a 100 ft from the house on mail box column at the street. It was much easier running conduit and wire for low voltage DC application.

The only thing I've found to date I like is the

Optex FIT-AM,

FIgured I'd get an ELK-960 relay module to set the duration of lights to stay on. Of course, then figured don't want the lights on during the day, so figured I'll put some Digital timer switch on the 120v lighting side to work from like dusk to dawn or something.

Does anyone know of any other compact motion sensors rated for exterior use that doesn't look like a prop from War of the Worlds? I don't have any problems with the Optex, just curious if other products available.

Thanks,

Are you sure the FIT is what you are looking for? Make sure you look at the coverage patterns on Optex's web site. You may want to consider an LX-402 if you are wanting a wider coverage area...But to answer your question I mostly use Optex.

There are others such as the Adpro Pro series but they can be pricey and don't look as clean for residential:

There are also the Optex (Redwall) SIP models:

They are big and kinda War of the Worlds...

I was looking at the Optex VX-402R, which allows a Ademco or GE wireless transmitter to be placed inside. If you want to direct wire the Optex VX-402 might be the way to go. I haven't purchased yet so I can't comment on how well they work.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like Optex is kind of popular.

I was looking at the FIT-AM because I did want a narrow band for my application,

The 402 looked good too, just the FIT "fit" a little better on the mailbox the way I'm imaging it.

Thanks

Narrow beam, the fit is what you need. It does look kinda nice...

depending on application, you could go with a different technology, like a driveway probe or similar, to trigger the lighting and be completely invisible.
