Contact Closure Sensors

Does anyone know where I can find something similar to a GC-SC1 (http://www.automatedoutlet.com/product.php?productid=1414&cat=0&page=1), that is, a contact closure sensor that I could plug into my Global Cache, but that doesn't cost $40 (yes, $40!)?

The Global Cache unit only has 3 native contact closure sensors, so I need a few more that have the 3.5mm jack on the end to use as inputs. I can't believe that the standard going rate on these would be $40. I would expect something like half of that instead.

I can probably get them for about $30 a piece (not much better even though its 25% off) and shipping $8 the first and $0.60 each additional. Still not a great price.

Can you make your own for half that or less?

I can't make anything myself, at least, nothing physical :-) That's what I get for being a software engineer.

I did find them here for $27 and change using Google shopping.

Of course, I've never been good with guessing how much things should really cost. I see an Elk M1XIN input expander with 16 contact closure inputs on a big board cost $80, and I wonder how a single contact closure connected to a single cable could still be $40.
