I've had no reply to my email, their telephone number no longer accepts voice messages, and their fax number doesn't answer. Has anyone spoken with them recently (over the last month)? Alternately, is there a distributor with inventory who will ship to Canada?

I had a small order of switches shipped two months ago, OK. But the last couple emails went unanswered, and I've seen no evidence of tech support despite some outstanding issues this year.

I hope they haven't disappeared ... at the very least I still need half a dozen switches to finish off my install :)

Yikes! :o Glad I went with OnQ instead of EDT (though interestingly, MY last email to OnQ also went unanswered....). Maybe I better stock up on switches now....

hey beelzerob..how is the progress on your OnQ installation and CQC driver? I am followng this with great interest as will be in that boat in a few months...

Don't know if you were following the cqc driver thread or not. You can now turn relays and dimmers on and off via CQC. I haven't worked on it a whole lot since then due to being buried at home and at work...mostly at work. I'm not aware of anyone @ CQC actually using it yet, or I'd bump it up a bit in priority to add capability....right now it's just me, it seems.

Well, I'm in the same boat as Mavric. Sheetrock goes up tomorrow!!! I already have a lot of switches, CQC, and all of the other stuff to go along with it...I just need a house to put it in. :( I will definately be using your driver. Do you control the switches connected to your PC vie serial connection, or through an Elk?

Direct serial connection, from PC to the serial I/O card, which connects to the OnQ controller.

Ok, good to know...I'll try to get some more features in there before you guys come online. Heck, I'd be actually using it myself in my house, but I'm waiting to be able to afford more switches. For now, I just have 2 switches, which are mounted on a hobby box for testing.

BTW: I hated the sheetrock phase. I mean, it's basically the final exam for all your hard work. Plus, after having spent months crawling around my house and through the attic, I hated not being able to see through all the walls. Yes, I've already found places I wish I'd run more wire.... oh well. Enjoy! :(

I have scoped out my system already, so I'd consider getting devices (with a few surplus) from a distributor with inventory. Can anyone name a distributor?

I also need to know that the switches are UL listed FOR CANADA (that means a little "C" to the left of the UL symbol). The demo kit I bought (a multi-button, regular switch, dimmer switch, and 1-port controller) has the UL-C on the box label but not on the device. So, I have a few switches I can't use if anyone is interested.

I seem to be in the only new house contruction hot spot in North America; the US has crashed, Alberta and BC have dropped by double digits over last year. It does not bode well for any company in the housing market. Some of the HA companies are in the (relatively) recession-proof high-end housing market; but for everyone else, fire sales may be the order of the day.

I order mine direct from them, so I don't know of any dealers.

The data sheets show the devices a cUL listed, and I asked this explicitly before ordering ... though I have yet to schedule the final electrical inspection!

I'd definitely be interested in the switches if you can't use the demo kit, though I don't need another controller. I have a couple of 'out-of-the-way' places left to automate and would be annoying to have to got with UPB or something for those.

Which part of the country are you in?

I'm in Saskatchewan. The electrical inspectors here said not acceptable unless the devices have the cUL logo. Do your devices have the logo or is it just the data sheet and/or box?

Here, neither the data sheet nor the box are sufficient to satisfy the inspector. I'm going to start researching other alternatives: the OnQ product scares my inspectors -- they'll don't see how it would pass CEC 2007: 50.8mm separation from the class 1 circuit, or 120V insulation: the individual strands are too close and insufficiently insulated. Z-wave is my next choice.

Good luck with the inspection!

The only device not in the wall is an i-ON-MB, and it doesn't seem to have any logo directly on it. Not something I had noticed before.

I have exchanged emails with Marc Bally, the CEO at EDT, and it would appear that EDT has ceased operations for financial reasons. It is a shame to see one less product in a market place that is already woefully short of well priced options.

I can only hope the switches I have prove to have a long lifetime!

Bummer, man. :(

Wow! That's unbelievable! It is a shame that they are closing their doors, as I really liked their product. I almost went with their lighting system too.

Well, hopefully your switches will last a long time. If not, the wiring is the same for the OnQ ALC switches. You would be out a big chunk of change though.

How is reliable is your email contact? Are they able/willing to liquidate their existing inventory? I would want a few dozen switches and a controller; I can do the rest myself.

It is saddening that they're going out of business; but, I'm not surprised, given the construction climate in North America.
