Controling Onkyo Receiver directly from HAI Omni IIe

I've got an Onkyo Receiver with an IP port.  What I'd like to do is have the ability to control the receiver directly from the Omni IIe.  For example, create a trigger in the Omnie that fires when the front door opens - ie: turn on the receiver, set the volume and turn to a specific radio station.

I've used HomeSeer to do this, but I'd like to be able to control the receiver directly via the Omni.

You won't be able to do this directly from an Omni.  There is no support for network control of things like that.

The easiest and by far most flexible thing to do would be to use HaikuHelper, which lets you do damn near anything if you are ok with spending a little time writing the scripts.  You could use it for much more than just controlling the Onkyo.  Think of it as the bridge between your IP network enabled devices and the Omni.

Does your Onkyo happen to have a serial control port?  You could certainly use that with the Omni.

No, the Onkyo only has the IP port, no serial port.

Yeah, HaikuHelper looks pretty awesome, and I'll check it out, but I'm trying to keep some things directly on the Omni.

Yeah, that's what is really nice about the Omni/HaikuHelper pair.  Let the Omni do critical stuff since it really never crashes or reboots... and let the "fluff" be ran from HaikuHelper.

Unfortunately for the Onkyo it's going to have to run on HH.

Keep in mind that HH only runs on a Mac, so if you're a PC household like the rest of the majority, your out of luck.
