I have an Ecobee in my garage for the garage heater. Someone gave me a portable AC unit (Haier cpn12xc9). I'd like to let the ecobee control it. It's all digital controls. My first thought is an arduino nano with an IR transmitter, and then wire the AC wires into it so when AC is called for the arduino will send the IR codes to turn it on and turn the fan to max, and when the AC is shut off, it will send the power off IR command. Thoughts? Any other ideas?
