D'versibit through 3/4" furring strips?

Has anybody ever tried using D'versibit to drill through 3/4" furring strips between a concrete party wall and drywall? I bought their starter kit with 3/8" bit, but haven't had a chance to try it yet & wanted to get others' feedback while I can still return it.

I have the 3/8" bit with 54" rod, Basically what I'd need to do is drill a vertical hole through the furring strip that runs horizontally about 3" above the floor slab so that wires running behind the baseboard (in Wiretracks) could get to outlets about 18" above the floor. The thing that worries me is that I'll be drilling somewhat blindly from above, with only about 1/8" margin for error before the bit rams into concrete or cuts into the drywall. Also, I suspect that the way I'm proposing to use it isn't quite what its creators had in mind (who probably assumed normal North American framing with 2x4 lumber, so a 3/8" bit could meander almost 3/4" without causing problems.

What even HAPPENS if the bit hits concrete before breaking through the bottom of the furring strip?would it just skid along the surface and keep pulling downward through the wood, would it jam, or what?

I can't help wondering whether someone makes a product LIKE D'versibit, but thinner, with a more flexible cable, for drilling an initial pilot hole more precisely for a bigger bit to later follow ;)

Damn. I wish the wall didn't have textured & painted wallpaper on it. I'm not in love with it, but I don't mind it enough to want to spend several days making a huge mess trying to remove it & repaint the room (at least, not yet... I need another month or two to find furniture I like and figure out what color would look good with it). But by virtue of being there, it means that any hole I make in the wall will be impossible to undetectably repair :(
