ELK-73 Speaker Quality

Getting ready to install a new ELK-M1 system and am somewhat concerned about the quality of sound that comes from the ELK-73 speaker from reading other post. Is there other options out there for a better quality sound? Didn't really like the thought of putting ELK-SPF12's in every room. Any comments

The quality of the ELK-73 is fine for voice announcements.  Voice quality problems on the ELK are mostly a result of the low bitrate voice stored in the Elk unit.  I'm using an old Android phone for all of my voice announcements now (using Vera Alerts and the Ivona "Amy" voice), and that sound goes through my ELK-73's.  It sounds amazing compared to the built in Elk voice.  It does sound better on the SPF12's, but I have mostly 73's and they are great for the intended purpose.

@signal15. I'm going to follow your lead on using my elk speakers for this instead if my sonos (too cumbersome and sluggish when saving/playing/restoring context). How are you powering them? Do you have the elk output still mixed in? If you can provide the info on equip you used and any wiring tips I would appreciate it. Thanks
