Elk dialing in w/ different ring tones

I read a post before about having two different phone numbers w/ different ring tones and having digital voice mail and the Elk. I have searched up and down for the post and cannot find it.

My phone co. has a service w/ one phone line and 3 different phone numbers each w/ a different ring tone. I wanted my primary number to continue going to voice mail and the 2nd number to goto the Elk. I wanted to use this option instead of the call/hang-up/call back feature. Anyone know how to have the Elk answer the 2nd phone number/ring tone while allowing the primary no. bypass the Elk and go to voice mail if no answer?

Thanks
Eric

You can get a box to direct incoming calls to different devices based on ring pattern. I use this with my fax machine and it works great. The model I use is the SR3.

That might have been a post I made. I have the "distinctive ring" from the phone company (I only have one additional ring, which is a double ring, and it is a different (alias) phone number). The ELK counts each of the rings in the double ring separately, so I have the ELK set to answer on the 5th ring (which is 2-1/2 actual rings). The answering machine that I have doesn't count the double ring as 2 separate rings. I have it set to pick up after 4 rings.

So when someone call the main phone number, the answering machine picks up on the 4th single ring, and when I call the secondary "distinctive ring" number remotely, the ELK picks up after what it thinks is 5 rings, but what is actually 2-1/2 rings.

Thanks Lugnut. I will have to give it a try. I am away now but when I get back I will try it out.
