Elk M1 Gold "Starter" Kits

Curious if there is any benefits to getting one of the Elk starter kits other than cost?

I was thinking I might not use all the components that come in the kit like the 14" can (I like the 28" better) and therefore the cost saving might not be there.

Do you just buy the kit and repurpose or sell the components?

Any other benefits other than cost?  Testing? Support? Etc?

Not that I'm aware of - typically it's a decent bundle to start with, but you're right - there's plenty of cases where probably not everything gets used.  I know I didn't use the echo speaker, RJ31X (had one) or 14" enclosure immediately...  but I think there's a bit of a wash from the overall savings you end up with.

I've always bought the kits, both M1's and EZ8's. I've always found myself using the 14" cans for junctions, remote equipment...other jobs, but YMMV.

And like others have said, the 14" can be used elsewhere - I used mine as a subpanel in my garage where I have a few expanders together for sprinkler and relay control.

Or since it's universally punched for various manufacturer's modules....a simple way to put some basic structured components in the house (I don't keep security and structured in the same enclosure, pet peeve).
