It would be nice if Elk developed (and released) a software emulator/simulator that would better help test out rule bases without deploying them first (Example: http://www.crestron.com/solutions/e-contro...l_emulator.asp).
The emulator would provide an interconnected graph of all the keypads, zones, lights, thermostats, keyfobs, clocks, and outputs. This way you could change the wallclock time and see what outputs come on. I suspect one of the more difficult parts of creating this software would be accurately capturing Elk rule's processing behavior. I hate debugging/fussing around with my rule base when family is home because it's sometimes disruptive.
