Elk M1 with Uplink AnyNet Module

It depends where you live. ADI, Alarmax are couple that I can think of. Unless you need one immediately I'd wait because every now and then I see the same module selling on Ebay.

PM if you want to know the price at ADI or Alarmax

tuantu,

Care to field one or two specific questions?

For connection from the Serial Expander to the uplink, did you use a custom serial cable between the expander and the Uplink's molex connector or the RJ45 port?

Does one need to "register" the Anynet module with uplink.com, or does the activation happen thru nextalarm. (I'll be bugging nextalarm... next)

Any not-so-obvious things you think of, I'd love to hear about. I'll be setting up the module over the holidays.

I USE THE CABLE THAT COMES WITH SERIAL EXPANDER MODULE. THE UPLINK ANYNET MODULE DOES not COME WITH THE MOLEX CONNECTOR, PIN AND ANY TOOL TO MAKE IT. I HAVE EXTRA MOLEX CONNECTOR, PIN AND USE MY OLD CRIMPING TOOL TO DO IT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED THE MOLEX CONNECTOR AND PINS.

I REGISTERED THRU ANYNET TO ACTIVATE THE MODULE SO THEY BILL ME SEPARATELY. NEXTALARM TOLD ME I CAN DO IT THRU THEM SINCE MY ALARM PANEL IS CURRENTLY BEING MONITORED THRU THEM.

AS FAR AS ANY NOT SO OBVIOUS. NO NEED TO CHANGE ANY DIP SWITCH ON THE MODULE. LEAVE THEM AT THEIR DEFAULT. FOLLOW THE SERIAL EXPANDER MODULE SETUP PROCEDURES FOR UPLINK. IF YOU DECIDE TO REGISTER WITH UPLINK DIRECTLY THEN IGNORE ALL OTHER FEATURES THAT ON THEIR WEBSITE EXCEPT ACCOUNT, TELEPHONE NUMBER AND BILLING INFORMATION.
