Elk M1 with Z-Wave TZ43 Thermostats

I'm trying to hookup my new TZ43 thermostats so they work with my Elk M1 system. AutomatedOutlet guys suggested this route since I can't run a cat5 to the thermostat locations for the hard wired thermostats. I have an extra serial port for my elk that is free, and I also purchased a Leviton vizia rf+ serial adapter. To configure the thermostats they recommended using ControlThink, which I have installed on my computer, and the two thermostats are showing up in there, but I'm not sure what other configuration I need to do, and I'm not sure how I make it work with the serial adapter and then elk. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jduncc -

Did you have any luck with this ? I have a TZ43 that I would like to get connected to the M1 Gold, too.

Many thanks -

Hi,

Just to be clear, can you list exactly what you have Elk wise, how you have it configured and what not for the Z-wave support?

I also own an Elk M1G and have been following the Z-wave setup with this appliance for some time. I also use ControlThink as my primary remote for my Leviton Vizia RF network.

If you have this setup that I mention below, sorry just verifying this information.

1. You have an Elk M1G or M1EZ8 panel (without mentioning the G, I can't assume the full panel).
2. You have the Elk-M1XSP module flashed with the specific Leviton Vizia RF firmware Version 20.0.4 (the standard M1XSP firmware wont work).
3. You have a Leviton VRCOP serial module connected to the DB9 interface of the M1XSP.
4. Yout setup your Z-Wave network on the ControlThink software first.
5. You then joined the VRCOP serial module to the network.
6. You updated ElkRP with your Z-wave network information.

Can you confirm if your Tstat is working in ControlThink?

If you can walk through how you have it setup, perhaps one of us fellow Z-wave Elk M1G owners can assist you with some suggestions. Also don't forget that Elk has great support, so don't forget to give them a call before you get too frustrated.

Yes I have the ez8 version of the elk system. I did get everything working in control think and i do have the zwave firmware loaded on my serial port.

What special settings do you have to do in elkrp?
