ELK-M1DBH and HAI thermostats

During construction, I run cat5 behind my two thermostat locations leading back to the the home run panel where the ELK is to be installed. With that said, can the thermostas (HAI thermostats) be interfaced with the ELK through the ELK-M1DBH M1 Data Bus Hub or do I absolutely need the ELK-M1XSP to do this?
How about the alarm keypad?
Thanks guys.

You need to use an M1XSP to communicate with the HAI thermostat, I don't think you can get around that (well not and have the Elk talk to it). The cat5 will handle the communication from the thermostat back to the elk/xsp.

You still of course need the other conductors for the heating/cooling/etc for the thermostat itself (and remember that the HAI needs a common).

The keypads can be added to the databus hub (which is a great addition).
