Elk P412 vs. UPS and wall wart(s)

Given a remote can with a few M1G expander boards, a DBH, and a keypad...what are the benefits to using the P-412 power supply to power everything versus using an off-the-shelf UPS with an Elk P1216 wall wart (12Vdc 1.5amps) to power the boards/keypad? I need the UPS for a LAN switch, USB-to-LAN server, and a couple of other small devices, so that cost is already sunk.

Thanks,
Ira

The p1216 is only 1.5amps versus 4amps for the P412. My choice would be the UPS and the smaller PS, as long as your total current draw is within the specs.

The Elk website has specs for all the boards, so you can pretty easily add them up.

Just another note: I purchased an Altronix OLS207 power supply (12vDC, 6amps) on Ebay for $30, plugged it into one of my UPS's, works fine.
