ELK recessed door/window contact?

Hi,

I am considering installing an ELK m1 Gold but i can only find the "slimline" wireless contacts (elk 6020).

I do not want to have an external "box" over all my windows and doors... Does ELK have a recessed contact similar to the DW4917 (DSC)?

You can use the ELK-M1XRF2H wireless receiver and then you'll have access to the 5800 series Honeywell transmitters which include slimline options.

Actually you can either use the RF2G or the RF2H and use either GE or Honeywell (or both!) selection of devices. IMHO, I'd stay away from the Elk branded RF 2 way devices, not enough variety to justify their full deployment for a full install.

Thanks, I see the GE's recessed contacts are twice as much as the honeywell.... what is the justification for the price differance?

Are the GE's more reliable, better range, etc.?

At almost half the price, are the Honeywell's worth using or are there known issues with them?

Not to speak for DEL but as a pro installer he recommends Honeywell over GE often due to larger range of product options.

I've installed both Honeywell and GE wireless on their own respective host panels for years. GE has a slight range advantage for their contacts from what I've witnessed in the field. Variety of devices stink for GE. Honeywell has them beat there.

The only reason why I used to prefer GE was they offered long-life battery sensors that have been discontinued for a few years now...they warranteed the battery for 10 years with anticipated life for 15+ years.

Range and overall performance is pretty much even and if you're really pressing them to the limits, you have a system design issue that should be looked into first
