ELKrp connection problems

Not to infer that this is your problem, but the possibility exist that one of your rules could be causing something like an endless loop in the program, which if that were to consume too much of the processor time could result in the connection breaking. You mentioned in one of your post that it started when you reconnected sensors. Could it be that a particular sensor is constantly triggering something? Just a wild hunch! One way to trouble shoot might be to create a duplicate copy in RP of the account using another name. Then clear all your rules from this new account and then see if you can stay connected. Then add a few test rules and send them to see if you can stay connected. Just some suggestions.

If the sensors are causing a problem as you suggested above (since all worked well before the sensors were connected, I suspect a power problem. I would check the voltage coming from the AC wall wart into the Elk and check the DC voltage. Use a meter on the AC scale to check for the 16.5 VAC from the wall wart, then switch to DC and check the AUX output voltage.

Page 18 of the Elk M1 installation manual also shows how to look at the system voltage and current draw via an LCD keypad.

If you remove all the field wiring from the panel/unplug all terminal blocks, do any issues issue change? That would eliminate any wiring. Next would be to eliminate the computer variables.

If you do a fresh install of RP on a different computer, can you connect to the panel? Can you get in to the serial port and do firmware upgrades/reinstallation?

There's more to the equation than what I think is being said, and I'd question the panel and it's history, as it sounds like you're walking into a panel just hanging on the wall, bought from somewhere, and hoping that it's new, out of the box, and 100%.
I unhooked everything except for a keypad and defaulted the board and still can't connect to the panel. I also did a fresh install of RP on a computer that was new, had a serial port that was for sure working, and had nothing installed on it except windows and could not connect.

You are right, I am going into this with a panel that was mounted by someone else and no idea of it's history. My boss is possibly going to buy a new one to ensure it is new and 100%. Thank you all for your advice and guidance.
