ElkRP or RP2?

My old computer that had RP installed was a Windows XP machine.
It died a horrible smoking death.
My new computer has Windows 7 (64 bit), and I can't seem to find any solid answer for which version of RP I should install.
It seems ELk is having problems with RP2 and maybe other software/firmware upgrades.
I wouldn't mind waiting a bit if the issues are nearly resolved.

Suggestions?

If not needed, stick with what you had (and worked), firmware/software updates should be treated like a Bios update, only do it if it is really needed, not because you want to have the most recent version #

That I'm not sure about (missed that requirement, sorry). Personally, I have a dedicated HA management virtual machine based on XP, so it doesn't matter what OS I use, and if the host machine dies, I simply move it to my temporary/new machine.

I did a very short test of the old ElkRP on Windows7 64 bit and it seemed to run fine. Note this was not an in-depth test, just a start it, click a few things, it works sort of test.

I've been using ElkRP on Win7 64 for a couple of months. No issues.
