Enabling Webcam File Creation on NV-5000

I've recently installed an AverMedia NV-5000 capture card and am attempting to use the individual jpg files that are created for each channel as part of my touchscreen display. I was under the impression that they are automatically created in the Program Files/DVR/DVR Server/Webcam/Mobile directory, and the html files for displaying the feeds seem to expect a local jpg for each channel, but no files are being created. Is there something that must be done in the AverMedia software to enable creation of these files?

I've tried enabling the WebViewer, HandyViewer, and 3GPP options, but still no files created. The network output is enabled, and I can view the feeds just fine with the remote viewer application.

Also, is there a support forum for the AverMedia software anywhere? I've looked at CCTV forum, but despite having a dedicated section for the AverMedia stuff, it's a bit light on content.

I have the same exact card and remember running into that problem as well. It worked for a while, and after some upgrade, it stopped working. I never figured out what caused it, or what changed, but maybe you can generate them whenever there is motion or something (through the screen which lets you define the actions such as e-mail, ftp, etc.).

I've gone through all of the alarm settings with no luck. There is one switch that will create a maximum of three snapshots on an alarm event, but no continual outputs.

Am I correct in assuming that the individual files should get created in the webcam directory?

When this was working for me, I believe that's where they were located. Once I set up the motion based captures, I also pointed them to a custom location, but it created new files with the timestamp in the name, so that won't help you much with touch screen integration, sorry :)

I don't think it generates the image until something requests it.
If your touchscreen supports a web browser, point it to <your cards IP address>:<port number>/mobile/channel01.jpg and you'll see the image of camera 1. Change the 01 to 02, 03, etc to see the other cameras. Image size is determined by the HandyViewer settings which, unfortunately, doesn't include a 640x480 size option. Bummer.

Thanks, d-smes, you are correct. After much poking around I discovered that the images are only rendered automagically on the fly as they are requested. Sorry, I meant to update this post with those findings but never got around to doing so.

is the image name always channel01.jpg for channel 1? good info btw :(

Yes. You have to refresh the browser to get a current image, and when you do, the former image is not saved; if that's what you're asking. I have multiple bookmarks in my Blackberry set to each of the camera numbers and .../channel04.jpg always returns a current image for camera 4.

perfect. we do the refresh part in our mobile phone vidcam app. just wanted to double check with the naming convention. don't suppose you want to test with our blackberry app to make sure it works...it has a free demo. let me know. thanks.

also how many channels do avermedia typically go up to?
