Ferrule end resistors?

I have seen pictures, but can't find any. I'm looking for some 1k resistors for EOL, that will fit in a fuse holder. I'd use double stacked terminals, and a gbm size fuse (or larger). Which is about 1/4" diameter. Anyone seen or know where to buy them?

I was thinking it would make for a much cleaner install. I plan on wiring all zones from the OPII to terminals inside my enclosure. If I use a double stack terminal block with fuse holder, I can wire out through the straight through portion of the terminal block, then install a ferrule end resistor in the fuse holder, and close it, completing the EOL on expansion boards cleanly, with minimum terminal blocks.

I'm an oilfield electrician, so all I know is overkill.

I realize that, however id rather not have EOL plates around the house. And with HAI, only the first 48 zones can be configured NC, with expansion boards 17A00-X it requires 1k resistors. I'd rather they are not buried in the wall, or ran to attic.

Why not?  The wiring has to be in the wall anyway and a small resistor can be soldered inline and heatshrinked just like a piece of wire.

I doubt you will find them in that package.  I suppose you could make them if you really wanted to.  If you put them at the switches they can be accessed by pulling the switch out so I don't see the advantage to your method.  The power is very low - they aren't stressed much so chances of them going out are very low.  Overkill is great but there is a point of diminishing returns and mainly just added trouble and expense...

I believe with HAI it is an all or nothing with EOL.

HAI gives you the ability to select resistors or not in settings.
Resistors must be placed at the end of the line to have full protection on the zone.

The zones on the OPII and it's 2 16 zone expansion boards can be set for NC. Expansion 16/16 boards require EOL. Most of the zones are status monitoring and automation, more then security. I guess I could shrink the resistors, and hook, twist, and soldier. I just prefer splices not being in wall like that. Perhaps I can get some dual contact switches and put the resistor between NO and C. Then wire my hot side to NC, and my return to NO. That way it still functions without soldier shrunk in wall.

Not sure what kind of mechanical stress you are expecting on a wire sitting in a wall, but the heatshrink will reinforce it and you could always do additional reinforcement such as epoxy inside the heat shrink if you are paranoid.

We have used these in the past with a special diod (transorb) soldered across the top terminals/fuse mounting holder.
 
A little bit of work for you but easy to do as there is plent of room inside the terminal for a resistor (these are typically 6-6.5mm wide)
 
Although, as stated, the idea of an EOL resistor is to be installed at the End Of the Line so the panel can detect line breakeages.
 
This is a risk (likelihood v consequence) call and in a residential situation, the risk is pretty minimal so you ca do it if that is what you want to do, it is not electrically wrong.

Have you looked at GRI 6644's or 6644T's?
 
Granted, they're DEOLR's, but we use them by the 1000's on the access control systems we work with.

Don't forget there's variations of the theme with those packs, but the 6644's with 1K/2K resistors are very common, they're OEM spec for a few access panel manufacturers.

You can get custom ones or SEOLR's, but the costs may outweigh the purchase of the other units.
