Haiku Free upgrades for recent buyers of Haiku

I purchased Haiku for $50 just a few days ago and now I see that Space is $30 and will (presumably) be the future of the product. Needless to say, I'm not super happy about this. The prices for these apps are already some of the highest I've ever seen in the App Store, but asking someone to pay twice is just ridiculous.
 
I think you should offer free upgrades to Space for anyone who purchased Haiku in the last 30 days, at least.

We would be happy to do this, but unfortunately there seems to be no way to verify that a user has purchased Haiku within the last 30 days with Apple. If we could figure that out we would be happy to offer this.

Regarding pricing; we do our best to keep the price low but the market is a niche and its not cheap to develop this software at all. It is complex and requires lots of maintenance. If we charge the typical App Store price we will not come even close to breaking even since the market is simply too small. For these products to prosper and bring home automation goodness to our users, we need your support. We work hard to bring every bit of value possible for our users.

I appreciate the reply and I do understand this is a niche product. I'm a software developer and I certainly appreciate the time and effort that goes into developing a piece of software such as this. To be clear, I wasn't saying the app is overpriced, I was just saying that it is already rather expensive relative to most applications.
 
Haiku seems like a quality piece of software and I've enjoyed using it in the short period I've had it.
 
I'd be happy to privately email/PM you with verification that I have purchased Haiku very recently if that would help.
