Front Door Camera Recommendations

I will be installing a camera on by my front door in the next couple of weeks.
The camera will sit at approximately 3 feet from where a visitor would normally stand to ring the doorbell. The video will display a side view rather than a front view.
Does anybody have any recommendations on what king of lens would be appropriate for this application?
By the way, the area is semi lit during the dark hours so I was thinking about going with a low light level camera vs. an IR camera. I am a little concerned about IR reflection due to the proximity of the background wall.
Thank you.

Can you add a motion sensor to control the exterior lights? Might be a consideration. Your subject will always be well lit.

I have a camera sort of above and to the side of the front door. The positioning was mostly because as we were having the wire run for cameras a friend had a break in where they cut the camera cables, so we wanted it a bit out of reach. The area is covered and has some recessed lighting which I have on most of the night even though my camera has IR. I personally didn't like the view of the camera with no lights, but maybe it is camera dependent. I have an Acti ACM-1431 on the front door.

I actually want to do something similar, but have no mounting options except for the siding around the door frame. I was thinking of a mini-dome camera with a lens similar to what DEL recommended. Just need to do some research since I don't want to use IR, and also don't want to spend a fortune. Let me know what you end up installing please.
