GE wired Glass Break not triggering alarm

I really never tested my glass break sensor.

When I have the alarm armed and I clap my hands sharply the red light flashes on the sensor, but the alarm does not trigger.
If I open the door, or trip the motion sensor the alarm will activate.

Clapping usually just activates the self test of the glassbreak - the led flashes but it won't actually trip the alarm.

If yoy want to try to trip it you need to make a large sharp noise by banging an object against another. Or I can send my two year old over to your house and she can bang a couple of her toy pots together which causes by glassbreak to trip pretty regularly :)

Yea, ditto what johnboy said. I can usually get them to trip by 'clapping' two small pieced of wood together in my hands.

If your ears aren't 'ringing' after you make the sound, it's probably not enough to trip the glass breaks... :)

I can also do it by clapping, but my hands hurt, and I mean really hurt after I do it (thus the wood advice above)...

Ok, so I was just tripping the test.

I will try pots and pans and wood when I get home.

Put about 2 pounds of Legos in a one gallon ziplock bag and toss it on the floor. It sets mine off every time. Sounds just like tempered glass breaking.
