"Google is making another foray into the living room with the Chromecast, a small $35 dongle that allows users to stream videos from a phone or tablet to their TV using Chrome...."

comes w/ 3 months free netflix too

Google "cast" will be added to Google TV soon they say. So if you already have a GTV, no need for a Chromecast.

The 3 months of netflix is also applicable to existing customers. So for us, its an $11 purchase.

Plus the $4 overnight fee I paid to Amazon.com to have mine tomorrow ;-)

I bought one, but it won't ship for a couple of weeks however.  I better get the Netflix offer however because that was what was advertised when I placed the order.

Where did you buy it? I got mine via GP, already got the code.

The one I got from Amazon today didn't comeHwith a code. Watching Google Play movie right now, tried Netflix too. Both seem fine. Off to soccer in a bit, will attempt Hulu Plus tonight.

I don't understand the excitement with this. You still need another device to stream from. So it provides a limited functionality of say Roku or Apple TV. Especially since Roku has their USB stick device that plugs into the TV as well. $100 price point already isn't that expensive.

2 things;
1) the roku cannot play google play movies. I own a few from road trips with kids on nexus.
2) you need two devices with the roku, the unit and a remote. For chromecast it streams directly from the Web, your phone or tablet is just a remote.

Btw this supplements my roku, not replace. No device supports all my streaming video needs : Amazon, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Google Play. I have content in each. (and ignoring my local storage, I use Sagetv for that. Can't get plex working reliably for that)
