HAI RC-1000 problem

Today I went to swap out an old digital thermostat with the RC-1000. There are 2 wires at the stat landed on R and W, which I landed on the RC-1000 RH and W1 (pins 1 and 6). It powered up fine, but was informed that a "noise" was coming from laundry room where furnace is. I checked it out and seems to be resonating from the gas valve. The furnace is an older Rheem model RGAA-080A and has this part

wouldn't think I would need to change the wiring and know very little about HVAC. Also, it is single stage heat only.
any help is appreciated
Thank you

Your original thermostat only used two wires; R and W?
There was no 24 volt common {C} on the original one?

Correct. 1 RED and 1 WHITE wire from relay controller (R and W screw terminals) to stat (R and W screw terminals)

Thank you for your response BLH. I will have this resolved by pulling a new cable to stat from furnace (adding conductors for common and fan). I just hooked up at furnace to test with new conductors and everything checked out. Thanks again.
