Home audio distribution setup.

Hello guys,
I really need your contributions to this matter. I have just remodeled my house. I have a total of 24 in ceiling speakers installed. I am planning to construct whole house audio system and I will be using audio request server which is capable of delivering music to four different zones. I have a request 16 channel amplifier. I also have two denon receiver. Each receiver has 3 zones. Now my biggest challenge is the configuration. I can configure the system to distribute same music all over the the house. Before I forget, I have installed volume control in each room. I did this because I want each user to have the privilege to listen to any music they like. But how do I use the same speaker for this purpose. In other words, if I'm playing the beetles all over the house and my wife is in the basement and she decided that she wants to listen to R n B, if she select the music from the server, How can I configure my setup in such a way that there would be no conflict. Is there some kinda of special switch that seats in between my amplifier and A/V receivers?

Also I'm looking for wired or wireless keypads that I can integrate into my home automation to control my house temperature and audio all around the house. Please, I need suggestion that is for DIY users. I don't want something that requires a programmer at all. thanks

WELCOME TO COONTECH!

I do not have a audio system in place yet but....I was planning on using internet radio and my my computer /music as the source, so I dont have to worry about receivers. And most likely use smaller single channel amps but I am undecided at this point. Alot of the people here go that method, or use a system built for whole House Audio.

As for controlling it, first you need to determine your hardware and how it will be connected to the home controller, and if you are going with a software controller on a computer (ex. Elve, CQC, Home-seer, premise....etc.) and then you hit the screen design\programming part ;) each system is different and can not be done without ANY programming, but there are meny people from cocoontech (or your software of choice 's forum) that will give advice and help out

could someone help me with this home audio distribution setup. I want to put a switch between the the volume and the source. Some like this: http://www.hometoys.com/ezine/10.06/feller6/index.htm
But what confused me is that the instruction states to splice 16/4 to the 16/2 wire. This instruction is vague as to which wire is going to input and which one is going to output. Someone help clarify. Thanks

You need to look at the picture about 1/2 way down the page with the green, blue and red lines.... green is 16/2 going to the speakers, and red is cat5 and blue is the 16/4 going to the source.

so (2) 16/2 to the speakers from the output of the switch, and (1) 16/4 from your dist/amplifier to the input of the switch, and I dont know enough aboutthe switch to say but it looks like there may also be a control wire which is cat5

These days with the use of touchscreens and GUI interfaces you really don't need to go through the trouble of using LPADS in each zone. Check out my blog and read my history for my system for some possible ideas. I have a six zone whole house music setup.
