How do you use UPB Links?

I have a HAI UPB switch with no load connected. I also have a UPB lamp module. I was able to make a link between the two to turn the lamp on and off. However I want to be able to control dimming just like if it were directly connected to the switch.

How do I program the links to do this?

Thanks

Assuming you already have a Upstart file of your network.......

open your upstart file, go to the links menu, then add link enter a unique name for the link (I usually use the scene name or responding lamp ex. Goodnight or Living room lamp)

once the link is created open the switch you want to control it from, and go to the transmit components page, if it's a simple switch you will only have 2 lines (these will correspond to the top and bottom rocker) set both of these to the link name you just created. More complicated switches with more buttons will have more lines...

next you need to choose the "mode of switch you want it to be" I like super rockers single tap to active link press and hold dims on/off in my chase I would select top super rocker and bottom super rocker respectively.

click Ok and it should ask you to program your device

now choose your receiver lamp module. And on the receive components choose the same link, and set it to 100% and configure your rate, you might want to leave it at default until you get to know what you want.

click Ok and it should ask you to program your device

save your file and you should now have a programmed switch & Module

Todd,

I did everything you suggested. I was really close only I chose Top Rocker instead of Top Super Rocker. I really don't see the difference between those two.

Anyway, I have the same problem. I can control the light on and off, but cannot dim it by holding the paddles up or down. The lamp module is set for dimming enabled.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Tim what models of devices are you using? I'd like to see the specific device configurations. You dont have snap configured on the receiving end do you?

I have the HAI 35A00-1 switch and the HAI 59A00-1 Dimming Lamp module.

I don't have snap programmed on either device. I tried the switch for super rocker and top rocker/bottom rocker with a link that connects to the lamp module. Best I can do is get it to turn on/off at the preset dim rate for the link.

When I hold the switch it just turns it on/off, no dimming.

Do you or anyone else have this combination working?

Tim,

I cant come up with a reason this wouldnt work, so over this weekend I am going to try this with my SAI switches and a HAI lamp module I have.
