How to send ASCII commands to omni?

I want to send via prolink serial some commands. Simple commands, either triggers like HAI1 or other "messages" to execute stored commands.
 
I cannot find ANYTHING anywhere on how to do this. I'll me using URC Total Control MRX-10 to  send the commands. Any ideas on where to look?
 
ie: send HAI1
 
sounds simple but finding the answer hasn't been, lol.

You have to terminate the string with CR. I use Windmill comdebug program to test serial connections, it is free to download

Thanks Picta.  My issue was I didn't know how to so a string. However, it turns out when setting a command to send from a controller (URC MRX-10), it does all the work for me, all I have to do is type in HAI1 or whatever trigger or message and voila, couldn't be simpler!

search for "pro link" or "omni link" (I can't recall the correct one right now).
