How to use the HI FI 2 Variable line out amplification outputs. I would greatly appreciate some  education on this. How do I wire and external amplifier and speakers. Thank you.

Well, first off the variable outputs are only for Zone 1 and Zone 8.  The outputs for those 2 are right on the Hi-Fi 2, labeled "Line Out Zone 1" and "Line Out Zone 8".  It uses a typical iPod kind of 3.5mm stereo plug with unbalanced RCA level outputs.
 
There is no programming required for them, "it just works".  If your amp needs a signal to turn on, there is another jack for that as well.
