How to use the I/O CM-01

We are using the CM-01 more and more and was curious to hear how some of you have used it in the past. Some of our applications are with garage doors or gated entries. The CM-01 can also be used in certain fireplaces and curtain control devices.

The unit can also be controlled to be off during daylight hours if needed.

With battery operated motion sensors this device has many more possibilities.

Please explain other ways people are including this type control in their homes.

Note: the CM-01 from Web Mountain and the UMI-32 from Simply Automated are the same device

I needed a group of LV lights to only come on after sunset and only with the Party scene. As an example the Party scene is turned on to light the inside of the house but it is not yet sunset. I do not want the garden lights on until Sunset. I used a SA UMI-32 (3 input+2 output) module.

I created a Testing Room in Upstart and created this application.
I have attached an image of the UPStart configuration for the UMI and 3 devices to operate only if 2 conditions are met.
I used single strands of Cat5 wire to jumper terminals on the UMI.
Terminal 1 to 9
Terminal 2 to 3
Terminal 4 to 10

Terminals 1 and 2 close when the unit receives Sunset link activate on Channel 1
Terminals 3 and 4 close when the unit receives Party mode link Activate on Channel 2
Terminals 9 and 10 Transmit a UPB link activate (Test group link) when a dry contact closer is made and deactivates the link when either of the conditions are deactivated. The circuit also deactivates when the All off link is received by channel 2
Yes, this could be done with a central controller, however this house does not have one, only local control touch pads and a SA Timer Scheduler

Another application of the UMI I have using similar logic as above I call advanced gate control.

I have a UMI receive a Link to momentary or hold closed a contact to open a driveway gate. The same UMI also monitors a magnet switch mounted on the gate and can also receive another link that I call sunset/sunrise.

When the Gate opens during the day the UMI does nothing. Between sunset and sunrise when the gate is opened the UMI sends a link to turn on driveway, garage, and back yard lights.

That trick with the jumpers is a really cool feature in the combination module. We have been using some driveway probes instead of gate contact closeurs. The probes we use a wireless up to 3000 ft. and have four channels, if you wanted all four you'd need two I/Os but it is pretty flawless. Motion detectors are also wireless and reliable.
