Purchased a used HP JetDirect 620N card for my HP LaserJet 2200DN to replace a dead 610N card. How do I get a IP address in the new card that my router can see?

- I can print out the config info from my printer and I can see the IP address currently installed on the card but I have not been able to do anything with it.
- My printer has no screen thus I do not have direct access to the card via any printer menu to reset the IP address
- Original installation CD that came with my printer is pre XP thus the installation menu will not work
- Tried several things found on HP web site to do a "cold reset" on the card via my printer...did not work

HELP!!!!!!

Does this device support config from a browser?

If so change the IP address on one of your computers to something on the same subnet as the device. Then you should be able to access the device and configure as desired.

Then restore the settings on the computer.

Any printer where I have a JetDirect card also has a small info screen where you manually set the address & other settings. What model HP printer is it? They have "JetAdmin" software you can use as well but if I remember, this would be overkill for one printer.

PS - Note that the "screen" I am referring to is a simple "one Line" light up status panel.

That is part of my problem. I have a HP 2200DN which does not have a screen. All it has is a power button and a "go" button. When I searched for a way to do this, all the instructions I found presumed you had a screen to work with. I had called a local HP shop to see if they could do it...answers is yes...for about $100 labor and set up time. That is twice what I paid for the card to start with.

Putting a laptop/desktop on the same subnet the printer is on now will fix your access issue (as Frederick mentioned earlier). Once in, you can change its IP address through the web interface.

Problem fixed. Instructions I had on how to do a cold restart using my own printer were incomplete. Found correct instructions, did a cold restart and put card back to factory default and everything is working OK now. Thanks.
