Installing the M1EXP

Newbie here. I'm replacing a 30 year old security system with the ELK M1 Gold. After a few stops and starts, I think I have a plan.

I wanted to mount the 14 x 14 structure wiring box between studs but a HVAC duct prevented me from doing that. I now have the enclosure surface mounted and existing wiring and LAN feed is safely inside the box. I plan to have the wall warts (that supply the power) located in another closet, using a 4 conductor 18 ga. wire to feed power to the box. I want to plug my PLM into the outlet below my box.

Next I discovered the M1KP2 keypad does not come with the flush mount kit, so I've ordered that.

Now I am looking for clips that would allow me to install the M1EXP circuit board in the box. I want to avoid mounting the cheesy plastic enclosure it came with next to the box. However, I could not find the accessory on the web, although the video clearly shows there is some sort of a clip that does this. Does anyone know where I can get one?

The XEP will fit on SWG's inside the panel. The only board(s) that won't fit on SWG's are the PD-9's and the 212S.

There's a spot in the top right of the 14" can that the smaller boards will fit with an M1G.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping for a clip that is designed to mount the card on it's backedge pmb1010. There is not enough room in my enclosure to add an adapter plate. I still am not finding the M1G clips pictured above DELInstallations. Anybody have a source?

I also am changing my approach to supplying power to the ELK. I found a 10 channel 12VDC distribution box that comes in a security box. Now I'm thinking I can install that either below my ELK M1 or the other closet. Since I plan on using the outlet under the ELK for my PLM, I think I may need to locate this PS in the other closet to avoid line noise that may effect the PLM performance.

The outlet by my ELK panel is connected to an emergency power generator but the outlet in my other closet is not. However, with a UPS and added power distribution box in the other closet, it should not interfere with the PLM as well as provide limited battery backup to my ELK, modem, router and ISY. If I am home, I should have at least 45 minutes to connect the UPS via an extension cord to an outlet that is on my generator. If I am not home, chances are the Internet connection will go down until the power is restored. If I am away for an extended period, I'll need to send a neighbor over to reset things. I see no other way around this without adding another outlet from somewhere else in the house. Just curious what others are doing for their set-ups.

Elk SWG's.

I couldn't recommend that power supply in my case, as it's not listed for the purpose (UL) for security and fire applications, however YMMV.

I took the cheesey box the xep came with and cut down the plastic part the xep mounts too and just used double sided tape to mount it to the inside of my can. I got this idea from someone else here. Works great. I actually was able to mount it on the can side wall and use near no space at all.
