Instruction Manual for Uplink 2500EZ

Does anyone have the instruction manual for the Uplink 2500EZ? I'm specifically looking for the jumper switch settings. I have the manual for the Uplink 2500, but I'm not sure that the settings are identical to the 2500EZ.

Thanks!

Are you referring to dipswitches? I don't know of any jumpers on the unit, but S1-S5 operate the same between units, S7 and S8 are typically off (default) and S8 is whether or not input 4 allows a reset or is a normal input, again typically off.

Yes, correct, I'm looking for the dipswitch settings.

I have a cable that I got from Uplink that allows serial communications on the 2500EZ - the one packaged with the M1-XSP is for the Uplink 2500 and does not work. The interesting thing is that the cable that Uplink sent can attach with the plug inserted, or you can pull the plug, rotate it 180 degrees, and plug it back in. So that's the second question - if there's any documentation in the manual that references which pins are active on the input under the cover, that would be helpful as well? Right now I have a 50/50 shot of guessing correctly. :-)

Did you flash the firmware in the XSP for the Uplink? Did you verify the XSP is working with default firmware and Telnet? I believe the XSP comes with the cable for the Uplink, only difference depending on age of the unit is the cable has one lead cut (to avoid sending power).

The 2500's need no setting changes out of the box to work, just serial port enabled on the dealer side....have you asked your service provider if the unit is configured correctly on the dealer side for serial data and not input triggers?

I'm still in the process of hooking everything up - haven't updated the firmware (yet), but it's on my list of things to do.

The 2500EZ has a different port than the standard 2500, and requires a different cable. The cable provided by Elk (with the wire that can be cut) doesn't fit on the 2500EZ. The cable that Uplink provided for the 2500EZ has a different square connector on it (I believe that it has two rows of 5 pins).

All dipswitches on my 2500EZ came in the down position. I may have to wait until I have everything operational to test for the right settings, and hopefully all of the defaults work. :-)

Uplink's documentation for the 2500EZ isn't up to par just yet. The one they do have doesn't show a serial interface for the 2500EZ, nor does it state such in the dealer sheets. From my experiences, once you configure the serial interface, it essentially overrides the majority of the dip settings, not to mention if you don't land any wires there, it's not going to make a difference.

I would ask Uplink as to the proper orientation of the plug, it's their product. The DB9 is pretty self-explanitory.
