Introducing Z-Command

Hi all,
Here's introducing Z-Command, a z-wave home automation system built on the raspberry pi 2.
It is has a fast, intuitive, modern web interface and a REST API that works with almost every programming language.
Find it at https://z-command.intulon.com

Thanks,
Sola

Welcome to the Cocoontech forum Sola!

Very nice Z-Command presentation web site.

Tell us how you got to where you are at with your new Z-Command application.

What is it that makes it stand out over your competition today?

And will you be providing a special price to Cocoontech forum users?

Welcome to the community!

I notice on your website it states, "Z-Command does not currently support door locks. This functionality will be provided with a future upgrade."

Are you Z-Wave certified? Or are you using an open source Z-Wave library?

We are using Zensys official SDK (not open source). We just haven't added door lock functionality to Z-Command yet.

Your hardware Z-Wave device

looks a bit like the new Homeseer Z-Net device.

Will it be doing Zigbee sometime in the future?

I am guessing that its using the new Z-Wave 500 series hardware platform.

Microsoft claims that Insteon is the “world’s best-selling wireless home-control networking technology.”

How do you personally answer that claim with your Z-Command device?

In fairness, there are so many reference hardware designs out there, it makes no sense to reinvent the wheel. This industry will be differentiated by software, not hardware. We're doing the same thing with the new CastleHUB: reference industrial design A + reference PCB design B = custom hardware device C

Well said. Which is why software is exactly what differentiates Z-Command. Aside from the fact that it is built on the latest Raspberry Pi 2 of course.

The ease of configuration and use, extensive features, and a robust API that can be used with Javascript, Java, C#, Android etc - these are the things that differentiates Z-Command.

You do have an audience here as it's been quiet the last couple of days.

Many of forum users here are DIYers relating to software / hardware / automation / security stuff and many are utilizing just about any methodologies available today.  (wired, powerline, powerline hybrid wireless and wireless automation stuff).

Very nice Sola.   Thank you for providing the discount code for Cocoontech forum users.

I am currently utilizing similar Aeon Z-Wave stick.  (well too the Leviton Z-Wave stuff, Vera, Z-Troller stuff).

Is the Z-Wave stick you have pictured a Z-Wave 500 series hardware platform device?

The ZStick 2E is based on the 300 series ZWave module from Sigma Designs

Hmm Z-Wave isn't built in? So this is just a reference mini computer running Linux with a Z-Stick plugged in? It looks the same as the HomeSeer device, but that one has a 500 series chip built into it.
