M1G and Omnistat2

I've been looking around for information on using an RC1000 with the M1G and there seems to be a lot of data none of which is conclusive as to whether this is supported or not. I also read that Elk was adding Omnistat2 support but there was no mention of which firmware or ElkRP version would be required to support the RC1000 nor if this has actually been done yet.

What is the scoop on using an RC1000 with the M1G?

For the quick answer... download the latest Elk-M1XSP user guide. It has detailed setup information for the RC thermostats.

Regarding whether Omnistat2 is supported on the M1...

The recent Feb firmware release (for the M1 - not for the serial expander) shows the following:

"Added capability to communicate ASCII commands to an HAI Omnistat 2 thermostat.
NOTE: Due to memory constraints this command is ONLY available in the 5.1.14 firmware version."

Does this mean that an M1 with the ge receiver (running 4.5 firmware) cannot use omnistat2 thermostats?
I thought the firmware for the omnistat was entirely contained in the M1XSP serial adapter.
