M1G Rules sending Email

I have an M1G with M1XEP ethernet interface. Using the M1XEP I can successfully send an email using the Test button. I next setup a rule in the control to send an email if the AC power fails. I simulated an AC fault but did not get an email. I then tried the Test button and I do not get an email. I don't think I did the rule incorrectly because it is selected from a list of options provided by the software. But I did notice this when I setup the rule:

NOTE: This feature is unavailable on M1s with firmware version 4.2.7 or older. My firmware is at 5.1.8. Does this mean I cannot send alerts using emails? Has this method been replaced with a different method of sending emails?

AC power fail trouble takes about 15 minutes to report, to reduce nuisance notifications. Did you wait long enough to get the power fail trouble on a keypad? I would test email with something that responds much quicker, like a door switch.

You may want to update your firmwares to get all the fixes and improvements.

Welll, if you have a power failure, how is the M1XEP going to send the email if it has no power? I also assume that you have this hooked up to a router, again powered by AC, so no AC, no email. If you have a UPS or something that keeps it alive then maybe. If you loose power only to the M1 then fine it should work, but if you loose power to everything else, then no it wont work.

Based on my observations (for vers 5.1.8):

The M1 rule "WHENEVER AC FAILURE TROUBLE IS DETECTED" (Miscellaneous / Troubles / AC Power Failure) is triggered after a short delay, 10-15 seconds. Also the M1 log shows the actual AC failure time. Central station reporting of AC failure via the 1138 code occurs after a 15 minute delay.

In addition to the other recommendations, check that you are using the correct rule parameters. (Miscellaneous / Troubles / AC Power Failure)
